Black Friday & Cyber Monday Chef Knife & Sharpening Deals 2026
What actually discounted in November 2025 and what did not, which knives to buy now versus wait for, and our current top picks with live prices. Deals are posted here when they go live.
How this is funded: we earn a commission if you buy through our links, at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. It never changes which knife we recommend, and we’ll tell you when we’d skip one. Full disclosure.
Status on 2026-09-13:no 2026 Black Friday or Cyber Monday knife deals are live yet, and Amazon had not announced its 2026 event window when we last checked. This page exists now so that it is ready in November: below is what actually discounted last year and what did not, which product classes are worth waiting for, and our current top picks with live prices. When the 2026 deals go live, they will be posted here, on this page, with the same rule as everything else on the site — a discount is only shown if Amazon is reporting it right now.
The dates
Black Friday is always the Friday after Thanksgiving. In 2026 that is November 27, with Cyber Monday on November 30. The retail event is much longer than the day. Amazon’s 2025 “Black Friday Week and Cyber Monday” event kicked off on November 20 at 12:01 a.m. Pacific and ran through December 1, with what Amazon described as new daily deal drops throughout — twelve days, not one. There was also an October event: Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days ran October 7–8, 2025, Prime-only, and Amazon itself described it as kicking off the holiday shopping season. So the honest framing for 2026 is a window that opens in early October and runs into December, with the deepest headline cuts clustered around the last week of November.
We found several third-party posts claiming to know Amazon’s 2026 dates. They contradict each other and none is from Amazon, so we are not repeating them. When Amazon announces, the dates go here.
What actually discounted in November 2025
We went back to dated coverage of the 2025 events rather than to memory, and the pattern is clearer than the “everything is on sale” framing suggests. Three classes discounted; three did not.
Knife sets and blocks: the headline cuts
Homes & Gardens’ knife-deals roundup, published November 23, 2025 and updated through Cyber Monday, is almost entirely sets: a Global Hashira 5-piece block from $700 to $199.96 at Sur La Table (71%), a Wüsthof Gourmet 4-piece from $185 to $99 at Amazon (46%), the Mercer Genesis 6-piece block from $139 to $125.10 at Amazon (10%), plus Ninja and HexClad sets. This is the class retailers use as the headline, and a set bought in November has the best odds of a real saving. It is also the class most likely to be block filler, so read our knife sets page before the discount does your thinking for you.
Wüsthof: big cuts, but not only in November
Wüsthof’s Classic line discounts deeply and often, and the timing is the useful part. A tracked deal on October 23, 2025 — a month before Black Friday Week — put the Classic 2-piece set at $134.98 against a $225 regular price on Amazon, a 40% cut. Another, on April 17, 2024, put the Classic 8-inch at $99 against $170 on Woot, Amazon’s outlet. Neither was a Black Friday deal. The lesson is that a good Wüsthof price is worth taking whenever it appears, and that a November “40% off” is not necessarily lower than what the same knife sold for in spring.
Guided and electric sharpeners: a consistent 15–30% band
Outdoor Life’s sharpener roundup, dated November 28, 2025, lists Work Sharp at 20% off, the Chef’sChoice 15XV EdgeSelect at 19% off, $50 off the Work Sharp Professional Precision Adjust, HORL at 15% and the Tumbler rolling sharpener at 30%. That is a broad pattern across brands rather than a one-off, which makes a guided or electric sharpener the most defensible thing on this site to wait for.
What did not appear: Tojiro, MAC, Miyabi — and every whetstone
The value Japanese knives we recommend most — the Tojiro DP line, MAC, Miyabi — do not appear in the 2025 knife-deals coverage we reviewed. No bench whetstone or diamond plate appears in the sharpener coverage either. The one tracked Shapton stone drop we could find dates from October 2021, tied to no event at all. We want to be precise about what that shows: it is evidence that these classes were quiet, not proof that no retailer anywhere discounted one. But it is enough to say there is no dated November pattern to wait for.
Buy now or wait: the short version
- Wait for November: a knife set or block, and a guided or electric sharpener.
- Buy whenever the price is good:a Wüsthof single knife. Track the price now and compare in November. (We found no dated Zwilling evidence either way, so the same “track it” advice applies.)
- Buy now: a Tojiro, MAC or Miyabi knife; any Japanese whetstone; rods, strops and plates. The value is already in the price, and the possible November saving is small or unevidenced.
The table further down sets this out class by class with the 2025 evidence beside each recommendation.
How to tell a real knife deal from a list-price trick
The number in a Black Friday ad is a percentage off a “list” or “regular” price, and list prices in cutlery are generous. The Wüsthof example above is the tell: 40% off in October, 41% off in April, and the same knife will be “40% off” again in November. The question is never the percentage; it is whether the November price is below what the knife has actually been selling for. Three habits help. Note the live price on our review page today — every card carries the date it was read. Use a price-history tool before you buy. And be suspicious of a deep discount on a premium Japanese brand from a seller you do not recognise: our where-to-buy guide covers the counterfeit and warranty problems that get worse in November.
How this page works
We do not store prices. Every figure on this site is read from Amazon by a daily check and stamped with the date; if the check fails, the number disappears rather than going stale. When Amazon reports a discount against its own list price, the buy button shows the struck-through list figure and the percentage — automatically, from Amazon’s report, never from a number we typed. That is the only kind of deal this page will ever display. When the 2026 deals go live in November, we will add them below the top picks, in the same format, and update the status line at the top. As with everything on Gyuto Club, we earn a commission if you buy through our links, at no cost to you; it does not change which knife we put first, and the disclosure explains how the site is funded. If you are shopping for someone else, the gift guides are the place to start.
Our current top picks, with live prices
These are the #1 picks from our regular roundups, not a deals list. Each price below was read from Amazon on September 13, 2026; when Amazon reports a discount against its list price, the button shows the struck-through list figure and the percentage. That is the only kind of “deal” this page will ever show — one Amazon is reporting right now, not one we typed in.

Best Japanese chef knife
Tojiro DP Gyuto 210 mm
The knife the internet has recommended to first-time gyuto buyers for a decade, and the numbers explain why: a real VG10 core at ~60 HRC for a fraction of the boutique price. Buy this before you spend three times as much.

Best chef knife overall — the class that discounts
Wüsthof Classic 8-inch Chef's Knife
The benchmark forged German chef's knife: a full-tang X50CrMoV15 blade at ~58 HRC with a bolster and heft that many cooks prefer for rock-chopping. Heavier and softer than a gyuto, and built to last decades.

Best knife set — sets discounted in November 2025
Mercer Culinary Genesis 6-Piece Forged Block Set
The best-value real knife set: the forged Genesis chef's knife you'd buy on its own, plus the four other blades you actually reach for, in a beech-and-tempered-glass block. The listing describes 'German stainless steel blades with thick bolsters and full tangs' across the set — not the stamped filler most cheap blocks pad the count with.

Best whetstone — the class that rarely discounts
King (Matsunaga) KW-65 1000/6000 Combination Whetstone
The stone that has taught more people to sharpen than any other. One side 1000-grit to set an edge, one side 6000-grit to polish it, made in Japan, for the price of a takeout dinner. Start here.

Best electric sharpener — discounted 19% in November 2025
Chef'sChoice 15XV EdgeSelect Electric Sharpener
The electric sharpener people who hate sharpening actually keep using. Three stages, diamond abrasives in the first two, and a jig that converts a 20-degree Western edge to a 15-degree one. It is fast and consistent — and it eats far more steel than a stone ever would.

Best sharpening system — Work Sharp ran 20% off in November 2025
Work Sharp Precision Adjust Knife Sharpener
The guided system to buy if a whetstone has beaten you. The blade clamps, the angle sets by knob anywhere from 15 to 30 degrees in one-degree steps, and a rotating handle carries coarse diamond, fine diamond and a fine ceramic. It removes the one variable beginners cannot control: holding a consistent angle.

Best knife gift
Shun Classic 8-inch Chef's Knife
The knife most people picture when they think 'nice Japanese knife': a VG-MAX core at ~61 HRC under 34 layers of Damascus cladding, with a slim D-shaped handle. You pay for the finish, but the steel is genuinely hard.

The “what November 2025 showed” column quotes the dated coverage cited under Sources. The “our advice” column is exactly that — advice, not a forecast. Nobody knows what any retailer will do this year.
| What November 2025 showed | Our advice for 2026 | |
|---|---|---|
| Knife sets and blocks | The deepest cuts in the category: a Global 5-piece block at 71% off, a Wüsthof Gourmet 4-piece at 46%, the Mercer Genesis 6-piece at 10%, all reported Nov 23-30, 2025. | Wait if you can. Sets are the class retailers use as the headline, and November is the most likely window for one. |
| Wüsthof single knives | Wüsthof Classic cuts of ~40% were tracked on Amazon in October 2025 and on Woot in April 2024 — big, but not tied to November. | Buy when you see a good price, whatever the month. If nothing is on, November is a reasonable bet but not a sure one. |
| Guided and electric sharpeners | A consistent 15-30% band: Work Sharp 20% off, Chef'sChoice 15XV 19% off, HORL 15%, Tumbler 30%, all reported Nov 28, 2025. | Wait for November if the purchase is not urgent. The pattern was broad across brands, not a single one-off. |
| Tojiro, MAC, Miyabi, Japanese-made knives | Absent from the 2025 knife-deals coverage we reviewed. That is evidence of quiet, not proof of no discount anywhere. | Buy now. The value is already in the steel-per-dollar, and there is no dated pattern of November cuts to wait for. |
| Japanese whetstones (King, Shapton, Naniwa) | No stone appears in the 2025 sharpener-deals coverage. The one tracked Shapton drop we found was October 2021, untimed to any event. | Buy now. Stone prices move sporadically, not seasonally, and a King stone is already the cheapest thing on this site. |
| Honing rods, strops, diamond plates | None appear in the 2025 coverage cited here. | Buy now. These are low-priced, and the possible saving is small in dollars. |
Frequently asked questions
When is Black Friday 2026?
Black Friday is the Friday after Thanksgiving, which puts it on November 27, 2026, with Cyber Monday on November 30. Amazon's 2025 event ran November 20 through December 1 — a full twelve days, not one — and as of the date on this page Amazon had not announced its 2026 window. We will post it here when it does.
Are there any knife deals live right now?
Not on this page. Every price on this page is read live from Amazon and stamped with the date; when Amazon reports a discount against its list price, the buy button shows the struck-through figure and the percentage automatically. When the 2026 Black Friday deals go live, this is the page where we post them.
Do Japanese knives go on sale for Black Friday?
Some did, as sets: a Global block set was the deepest cut in the November 2025 coverage we cite. The value Japanese makers we recommend most — Tojiro, MAC, Miyabi — did not appear in that coverage at all. Our advice is to buy a Tojiro now rather than wait for a discount there is no dated pattern of.
Do whetstones go on sale for Black Friday?
Not in any pattern we could find. No bench stone or diamond plate appeared in the November 2025 sharpener-deals coverage, and the only tracked Shapton price drop we found was in October 2021, unrelated to any event. Guided and electric sharpeners are a different story: those ran 15-30% off across several brands in November 2025.
How do I know a Black Friday knife deal is real?
Compare against the price the knife has actually been selling at, not the 'list' figure in the ad. A 40% cut on a Wüsthof Classic looks dramatic until you know the same knife hit that price on Woot in April 2024. A price-history tool helps; so does bookmarking the live price on our review page now and comparing in November.
Will you predict which knives will be discounted?
No. We do not know what any retailer will do, and neither does anyone else publishing a September 'deals' page. What we can do is tell you, with dated sources, what discounted last year and what did not, and give you advice by product class on that basis. When the real deals appear, they go here.
